I had the honor and the privilege to interview Gospel rapper and singer Mac Prayze, where he talks about his testimony of how he grew up and built up his relationship with God over time. Mac Prayze has a successful YouTube channel with over 30 thousand subscribers and videos with over 100 thousand views. In many of Mac Prayze videos, he speak about his dynamic dreams, where he believes God reveals things to him. During his interview I heard many of his amazing stories about how God spoke to him directly or through other people. Mac Prayze go hard for the Gospel and his energy is very infectious, as he motivates believers to stand strong in Christ.

Mac Prayze Childhood
We started out the interview with prayer, then Mac Prayze went on to speak about his childhood growing up. He is from a county called Farmhaven in Mississippi. He was raised in the church, where his parents did not spare the rod. Even though, Mac grew up in church, his father lived the partying and club lifestyle, in which Mac grew up fast going to clubs at a young age.

Mac Prayze was very talented and athletic growing up, so he played a lot of sports in school. He knew how talented he was in those areas, therefore, he used his athleticism to his advantage. He relied heavily on his talents to get by, which made him very arrogant and prideful. Mac did a lot of smoking and drinking coming up as well, which was a sin his flesh really enjoyed. However, later with the Lord's help, Mac was able to overcome the drugs, alcohol, and pridefulness.

Mac was known for leaving his parents home to explore and indulge in the secular world. He left home one time to go to Nashville. Then, there was another time Mac wanted to live with his brother in Houston, where his brother went to Houston University. His brother was into drugs, fast money, and women, which was very attractive to Mac at the time. So, Mac left home with some money he had saved and went to stay with his brother in Houston. After only a few weeks, Mac ran out of money and realized that there wasn’t enough money around for basic necessities such as food. Mac explained how he was hungry and went into his brother's refrigerator, and there wasn’t anything in there but a light bulb. Mac had gotten to a low point in his life where, seeing food out of garbage cans in the street didn't seem all that bad. It was at this low point where Mac decided that it’s time to come back home. He called his parents, and within the hour, he had a plane ticket to come back home. He told his brother he was heading back home. Mac expressed how God had to humbled him by using this situation to bring him back to God. All in all, Mac said he was running away from home,but more importantly, he was really running away from God.

Mac Prayze Heard from God
Mac was telling me about many encounters he had with God, including hearing from God. God either spoke to him directly or spoke to him through someone else. There was one incident Mac was telling me about where he had skipped church one day and a lady, he did not know approached him and said God told her to come to this store and find him. The lady said that he supposed to be in church. The lady also told Mac that God told her to ask him to choose life or death. Mac, being stunned that a total stranger, said all of those things to him, that it had to be true; that God told her to tell him those things. So, Mac chose life and decided to go with the lady that day, and the lady dropped him off at church.
Mac Prayze Music
Mac Prayze is his artist’s name that he uses for his music. He said that the Lord spoke to him one day and told him to rap, which came naturally being that he already made beats. Mac played drums at his church, so I’m sure beat making sort of came easy to him.
