Are you looking for some good Christian movies to watch? Are you tired of looking at movies that promote or glorify sin? Many movies, TV Series, and even cartoons these days contain sinful messages, cursing, nudity, and using the Lord’s name in vain. The more my relationship with God increases, the harder it is to watch these unGodly type programs. Being that I really like to watch movies, I had to give up a lot programs due to the negative content. Fortunately, there are many Christian movies out there that are just as good as any other movie, but without negative, unGodly content. Below are 25 must see Christian movies, that I have watched myself; many with strong biblical principles, that will entertain you, and grow you spiritually at the same time. 

 

1) Do You Believe? (2015) 

Do You Believe is one of my favorite Christian movies that I can watch multiple times to feel good and be inspired. Many times we don’t see the whole picture when we are playing the main character in our lives. However, God see's the whole picture and is working things out in the background for our good. This movie has a strong message that will challenge you to take a deeper look into what you believe as a Christian. Beware, this one is a tear jerker! 

 

2) Raising Izzie (2012) 

Raising Izzie is a good family and feel good movie to watch. Sometimes our blessings come in a different way than we plan. 

 

3) Unplanned (2019) 

Unplanned will open your eyes to the planned pregnancy industry. This movie is based on a true story about abortions. 

 

4) I’m Not Ashamed (2016) 

I’m Not Ashamed is a must see Christian movie based on a true story of girl who was a light here on earth. It’s a very motivational and powerful movie about, how all it takes is one person make a difference. 

 

5) Heaven Is For Real (2014) 

Heaven Is For Real is another Christian movie based on a true story. If you like to see movies about miracles, this is right up your alley! The testimony in this movie will blow you away. 

 

6) Flywheel  (2003)  

Flywheel is an older movie with spiritual punch. It’s not a huge blockbuster production, but if you are more concerned with the message, this is the movie for you. 

 

7) Courageous (2011)  

Courageous is a powerful Christian movie thats about; you guessed it, courage. This Christian movie is very emotional, so bring your box of tissue. 

 

8) Overcomer (2019)  

Overcomer is a great Christian movie to check out. If you like sports, you are in luck. This movie is about having faith when your path is not so obvious. 

 

9) Facing the Giants (2016)

Facing the Giants is another Christian movie that caters to you sports fans. This movie is very inspirational, touching, and powerful. 

 

10) Letters to God (2010)  

Letters to God is based on a true story and is for the Christians who are suckers for movies about kids in faith. Do forget to bring your box of tissues beside the popcorn. 

 

11) What would Jesus do? (2010)

Ever wondered what would Jesus do in certain situations? What would Jesus do is a great Christian movie to check out and help you remember to ask yourself, “What would Jesus do”, when you are faced with tough decisions. 

 

12) What would Jesus do 2: The Woodcarver  

What would Jesus do 2: The Woodcarver expands on the first movie What would Jesus do with a different scenario. If you are a fan of the first one, you should like this one.

13) A Case For Christ (2017)

A Case For Christ is based on a true story about a non-believer reporter who went on a mission to prove the bible not to be true. Find out what he discovers along the way. This movie is especially for those skeptics who may not believe that the bible is true. 

 

14) God’s Not Dead (2014)

Have you ever debated with a non-believer about if God is real or not? As you might know, this may not be an easy task. God’s Not Dead allows skeptics or non-believers to get answers to questions they may have and also help believers learn how to defend their faith from an intellectual  aspect. 

 

15) God’s Not Dead 2 (2016)  

God’s Not Dead 2 keeps the ball rolling with the intellectual debate between the Christian’s point of view and the Atheists point of view. Learn from these type of movies and grow your knowledge about Christianity. 

 

16) God’s Not Dead: A Light In Darkness (2018)  

God’s Not Dead: A Light In Darkness switches it up a little bit and touches more on having faith in difficult times and how to overcome challenges or set backs.

17) War Room (2015)

The Christian movie War Room was one of the movies I have seen that actually had a positive impact on my marriage. I have read scriptures on marriage in the bible, but this movie brought the scriptures to the big screen for the world to see. I recommend this movie to every married couple that may have any type of challenge, whether small or big. In my opinion, I believe many Christian married couples are unaware of these biblical fundamentals about marriage presented in the movie. This movie was an eye opener for me, one of my favorite movies. 

 

18) Sacred Vow (2016)  

Sacred Vow I believe is for every married couple in general. This movie is especially good for married couples who may be going through some challenges. You may feel like the love is lost in your relationship or you feel like you don’t love your spouse anymore. Don’t separate, divorce or leave your spouse until you watch this movie. 

 

19) Fireproof (2008)  

Fireproof is another great movie that can transform your marriage for the better with practical steps and applications. It’s healthy to see other people who are able to get their marriage to bounce back when all hope seems lost. You wouldn’t regret this one.

20) Crazy As Hell (2002)  

The movie Crazy As Hell is a curve ball I decided to add to this list. Don’t be thrown off by the title. This movie has a powerful biblical message and if you are not paying attention, you can miss it. The first time I seen this movie, years ago, I didn’t catch the underline message. I watched this movie again years later after I grew spiritually and I had a revelation of what the movie was about. If you don’t mind watching older type movies, this movie is definitely a hidden jewel many people overlook. (Caution, I do believe this movie has slight sexual content)

The Bible Collection Movies

The Bible Collection is an awesome series of movies about stories in the bible. Wikipedia shows about 17 different movies, however I was only able to find and watch about 6 of them. The reason I choose to add these bible movies to the list over all the movies out there about stories in the bible is because, in my opinion these movies were very close to the scriptures in the bible. I’m not discounting other bible movies, but these movies are almost word for word in scripture compared to other bible movies I've seen.

What If is like the Christian version of The Family Man movie in my opinion. 
It’s a good clean and fun movie to watch and learn a lesson at the same time. 

 

24) Discarded Things (2020)  

Discarded Things was entertaining to watch and inspiring. Take a break from typical secular movies and check this one out. 

 

25) Treasure Lies (2020)  

Treasure Lies is simply a plain old good movie, period. This movie is proof that you don’t have to have foul language, sexual content, etc. to make a good movie.

2 Must See Christian TV Series 

 

1) Vindication (2020)  
I caught this Christian TV Series on Pureflix and I've been hooked since the first season. If you like detective, police work type story lines, then this may be a good one to watch. 

2) Sons of Thunder (2019)
I saw this Christian TV Series on Pureflix as well. This one is about a biker, but don't let that discourage you if you don't like motorcycles. This guy is on a mission to do God's work.  

 

Wrap Up 

 

One of my “pet peeves” is when movies use the Lord’s name in vain; in which, I believe it’s completely unnecessary. It doesn’t make the movie better, but still it seem like they use the word “Jesus”, “Christ”, or “Jesus Christ” in a negative way in almost every movie. I like to use a website called, Pluggedin, which tells you if the Lord’s name is used in vain, in just about any movie you search for. I understand that, probably these producers who make these movies are not Christians, but if that’s the case, then stop mentioning the Lord’s name in vain in your movies. I found a online partition website about Hollywood movies using the Lord’s name in vain. I hope enough people will complain or sign up, in which will cause Hollywood movies to reconsider. Moreover, the best way to really influence them is to stop supporting these movies financially. Thanks to many YouTube channels such as Faith Tube, EncourageTV, and streaming services such as Pureflix that play or provide clean Christian movies and entertainment. 

Sometimes, it can be tough finding good Christian movies to watch with professional quality type production and pack a heavy biblical message at the same time. Hopefully, I have done some ‘leg work’ for you and presented a good Christian movie you haven’t seen yet, that maybe you will watch this coming Friday or Saturday night. As an advent Christian movie fan, these are only the movies I could think of off the top of my head at the time I wrote this article.
